CALCU RESERVA

Calcu winemaker, Rodrigo Romero, oversees the production of an exciting line of high quality, entry-level Reserva wines made for everyday drinking. The word Calcu means "healing doctor" in the local Mapuche language and the namesake wines were created to emphasize the local diversity of Chile’s Colchagua Valley. Estate fruit is locally sourced from various properties located near the ocean and as far as the foothills of the Andes Mountains. The wines showcase Colchagua Valley terroir through sustainably grown fruit. Calcu produces exuberant wines that are fresh and fruity, but also elegant in six different varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, dry Rosé, Carmenére, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon.

After exploring Calcu Reserva wines, step up to the sophisticated and refined “icon wines” from Calcu. Blended by the talented Eric Boissenot to achieve world-class elegance is FUTA Cabnernet Sauvignon. FUTA means "BIG and magnificent" in the indigenous language and it appropriately captures the personality of this wine. The Winemaker's Selection is a red blend made with the best Marchigue estate fruit from the of the Colchagua Valley. The Calcu Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with fruits that also come from the Marchigue estate. It offers the elegance and sophistication of FUTA while being as friendly and approachable as the Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon.

Calcu wines are produced under strict organic and sustainable standards. Calcu was one of the first Chilean wineries to obtain the Wines of Chile sustainability certification. Great efforts are made to control erosion, pests and weeds as well as to promote biodiversity among the vineyards in the most natural way possible.

New Albamar Label

In the coming months we'll be rolling out the brand new Albamar label design which features a humpback whale in watercolor, breaching the ocean surface. It's a vast improvement from the previous design and different color schemes will attract attention to the assorted Casablanca cool-climate varietals; Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Carmenere, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauivgnon. We're especially excited that 91 points from James Suckling will accompany the newest 2018 vintages of Pinot Noir and Carmenere.
